Amparks Student Council Article of the Week:

Health

Written by: Charlize C. with memes by Bella O.

Have you ever had a stomach ache from eating too many sweets? That’s not healthy for you. Your health matters. Just because you ate 10 pieces of chocolate the other day doesn’t mean that your body is not affected by it. In today’s article, I will be talking about how you can improve your health, what the consequences are, and etc.

The Consequences
Remember the chocolate I was talking about? Well, you can have 10 pieces of chocolate, but just not in one day.
If you eat too much sugar and don’t exercise enough to burn the extra calories, it will reflect on your health. Here are some examples of what can happen if you don’t take care of yourself:

  • According to an article based on “What diseases can you get from an unhealthy diet” says that, “An unhealthy diet is one of the major risk factors for a range of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and other conditions linked to obesity.”
  • Another article on “What are the effects of an unhealthy diet” says, “An unhealthy diet can lead to health issues such as malnutrition, poor digestion, inflammation, unwanted weight gain and obesity. It can also increase your risk of chronic diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease, and impact your mental health.”
See, there are some serious consequences that can happen if you don’t have a healthy diet and don’t take care of your body. Now we will move on to how to have a balanced diet.

What to Eat to Have a Balanced Diet
So I know you might hear this all the time but having a balanced diet has a huge impact on your body. I am currently trying to eat healthier so I will share some tips and tricks on how to have a balanced diet:

  • I sometimes eat veggie pasta. Veggie pasta has veggies like tomatoes, zucchini, carrots and spinach. You can buy veggie pasta at your local grocery store.
  • I sometimes use this salad dressing at home from scratch. The ingredients are:
-Olive oil
-Vinegar (Red wine vinegar, any vinegar will be fine.)
-Lemon
-Salad sazon packet
(You can put as much of each ingredient as you want. Doesn’t have to be exact.)

  • Exercise more than you eat, Make sure that you get your 30 minute exercise everyday.
  • Another thing you can do is go to Art/P.E/Music and print out one of the super hero warm ups. Or ask Caitlin to help you with some exercises at ccargill@schools.nyc.gov

To wrap things up, You should always take care of your body no matter what. You can get some different diseases including cancer and diabetes from not taking care of your body. You can make salad dressing from home for a delicious salad for lunch or a delicious meal with veggie pasta, which can be bought from your local grocery store to make sure you eat right.
