Dear AmPark Families,

We wish you a safe and restful Memorial Day weekend.  We send our love to those that have sacrificed for our freedoms and wish for a safe return to those currently serving.

Some Good News:
  • Our fourth graders completed their Friendship Day celebration on Tuesday
  • Chef Marion and dancers from Alvin Ailey hosted a family wellness workshop with nutritious foods and activity (see Chef Marion’s AMAZING recipe for Overnight Oats below!)
  • 2nd - 5th grade students participating in our West African and Hip Hop classes with Alvin Ailey had their culminating performance on Wednesday evening. They have learned so much and pulled off an amazing performance for a large zoom audience.

NYC School Survey

Your School. Your Child. Your Voice.

Every year, all parents, teachers, students in grades 6-12 and select school support staff take the NYC School Survey. The survey helps school leaders understand what key members of their school community think about the learning environment at their school. The information captured by the survey is designed to support a dialogue among all members of the school community about how to make the school a better place to learn.  Currently only 30 members for the AmPark community have made their voices heard and we hope to hear from so many more before the survey closes on June 11th, 2021.

Take the 2020-21 NYC School Survey NOW!(Open external link)

Families should enter “f” followed by their child’s nine-digit Student Identification (OSIS) Number to access the survey. Note that “f” must be lowercase. Families can find their child’s Student Identification Number on their report card, student ID card, or New York City Schools Account (NYCSA).

Neighborhood Food Resources

The Hunter College NYC Food Policy Center develops solutions to promote food security and works to make NYC a model for smart, fair food policy. Through research and data, they produce reports and resources on topics including organic food labels, the price of food at various supermarkets in NYC, and how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the food system in New York City. To help connect community members in need with food resources during the pandemic, the Food Policy Center created Coronavirus NYC Neighborhood Food Resource Guides for each NYC neighborhood in all five boroughs. The Food Resource Guides are updated daily to ensure that community members are able to access accurate information about food resources nearby. Sign up for the Food Policy Center's newsletter for more updates on food policy issues in NYC.
