AmPark Owl Blog

Week of April 1st, 2022

3/30/2022

Dear Families

Ramadan Mubarak to our families who will begin observing tomorrow.

We are so proud of the efforts of our 3rd - 5th grade students on the ELA state test this week.  Our children handled the challenge with a positive approach and tremendous perseverance.

April’s Book of the Month is It Takes a Village by Hillary Rodham Clinton.  It illustrates Habit 6 and all that can be accomplished through the power of synergy.

We are happy to share that our students will have increased access to the PS/MS 95 play yard during recess times beginning next week.  This addition to the lunch and recess period will limit transitional time and allow for additional time to eat and play.  For next week, all students in grades 2 - 5 will use the play area for lunch and recess.  Students in grades PK, K, and 1 will primarily use Betty’s Playground.  In the future, grades 2 - 5 will have a rotational schedule with the yard and Classic Park for recess.

Please join us in welcoming Bonnie back from maternity leave next week!  Bonnie will be at AmPark part-time for the coming weeks transitioning back.

Through an expanded partnership, family-facing webinars are being provided via the Beyond Access Series, which includes DOE recordings and webinars for families of students with disabilities. Note that the live sessions are delivered in English with interpretation in Spanish and Mandarin. Recordings have automatically translated captions in over 30 languages. To participate in the Beyond Access Series, view these upcoming sessions and recordings.  For questions, email beyondaccess@schools.nyc.gov.
