CPR, Common Interim Assessments, & Diwali SING Celebrations

Dear AmPark Families,

Next week, AmPark will be participating in the District 10 initiative to conduct Common Interim Assessments (CIAs) with our 3rd-5th grade students.  Along with all of our District 10 schools, we will implement these CIAs as a key component of our district’s data-driven instruction model. The purpose of these assessments is to give us a clear picture of where our students currently stand and allow us to tailor our teaching to meet their needs.  

What this means is that on Monday and Tuesday of next week (October 28th & 29th), our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will take an abbreviated version of the ELA and Math State Tests, using released test questions, and under testing conditions.  On Wednesday (October 30th), those ELL/MLL students who are eligible to take the NYSESLAT, will also take a shortened version of the NYSESLAT exam.  

Just like our actual state tests to come in the spring, these exams will be taken digitally (computer based), using student iPads.  We are hopeful that this practice will not only give us the opportunity to glean important information that we can use to drive instruction, but also to give our students time to familiarize themselves with and build confidence in taking these exams.  If you have questions or concerns about Common Interim Assessments, please do not hesitate to reach out to Bonnie, Elvira, or Meena.

La próxima semana, AmPark participará en la iniciativa del Distrito 10 para realizar Evaluaciones Provisionales Comunes (CIA) con nuestros estudiantes de 3º a 5º grado.  Junto con todas nuestras escuelas del Distrito 10, implementaremos estos CIA como un componente clave del modelo de instrucción basado en datos de nuestro distrito. El propósito de estas evaluaciones es darnos una imagen clara de dónde se encuentran actualmente nuestros estudiantes y permitirnos adaptar nuestra enseñanza para satisfacer sus necesidades.  

Lo que esto significa es que el lunes y martes de la próxima semana (28 y 29 de octubre), nuestros estudiantes de 3º, 4º y 5º grado tomarán una versión abreviada de las pruebas estatales de ELA y matemáticas, utilizando preguntas de prueba publicadas y bajo condiciones de prueba.  El miércoles (30 de octubre), aquellos estudiantes ELL / MLL que son elegibles para tomar el NYSESLAT, también tomarán una versión abreviada del examen NYSESLAT.  

Al igual que nuestros exámenes estatales reales que vendrán en la primavera, estos exámenes se tomarán digitalmente (basados en computadoras), utilizando los iPads de los estudiantes.  Tenemos la esperanza de que esta práctica no solo nos dé la oportunidad de obtener información importante que podamos usar para impulsar la instrucción, sino también de darles a nuestros estudiantes tiempo para familiarizarse y generar confianza al tomar estos exámenes.  Si tiene preguntas o inquietudes sobre las evaluaciones intermedias comunes, no dude en comunicarse con Bonnie, Elvira o Meena.
