Good Evening AmPark Families, 

It feels like the school year has just started, but we blinked and somehow, some way... it is March.  As we prepare to dive in to all things spring from field trips and gearing up for state exams to late afternoons in the park and science fairs (the AmPark School-Wide Science Fair is on the 26th!), please find the AmPark March events calendar below to help you plan for it all. 
Thursday, March 6th is a 1/2 day for Parent Teacher Conferences.  Students will dismiss at 11:30 and there will be no after school programming that day.  All conferences will be remote.  Be on the lookout for messages from your child's teacher with the Zoom link and time slots you may sign up for, via Bloomz.  
Next week your child will engage with one more delicious round of WITS cooking Labs with Chef Victoria here in the K Cafe.  This round of labs will be a perfect seasonal springtime offering of Penne with Spinach and Tomatoes.  If you just can't wait to give it a go, please check out the recipe cards below and DO try this at home!  We look forward to hearing what our AmPark Owl chefs think about what they'll be cooking up!

AmPark's Habit of the Month from our 7 Habits is Habit #6 Synergize, which is all about working together to find new solutions to challenging problems.  AmPark's Book of the Month is Sharice's Big Voice: A Native Kid Becomes a Congresswoman by Sharice Davids & Nancy Mays.  In this beautifully illustrated story, Sharice Davids, one of the first LGBTQIA+ Native American's elected to the House of Representatives, tells her story of growing up and finding her own powerful voice on her unique path to the United States Congress.   
Finally, if you missed Casey & Caitlin's fabulous health presentation as shared during Lunch With Elvira, don't worry!  You can find all of the wonderful (and healthful!) information that they shared in the slideshow below.

The 2025 NYC School Survey administration window opens on Monday, February 10th, 2025, and will close on Friday, April 4th, 2025. 
 
How is the School Survey information used?
Survey results support dialogue among all members of school communities about how to make their school a better place to learn. School leaders use the feedback from the survey to reflect and improve schools and programs. Survey results are also used to help measure school quality.
To review 2024 results, visit the survey results page. To view citywide results, click “NYC DOE: Citywide Results.” To view results for a specific school, type in the school’s name after selecting the “schools” icon.
How can I take the School Survey?

To access your survey, families can use your child's nine-digit Student Identification (OSIS) number. You will enter a lower case "f" followed by your child's OSIS number to access the survey (e.g. f123456789). Your child's OSIS number will be provided in the take home survey and can also be found on report cards and student ID cards. Families can also take the survey directly within your NYC Schools Account (NYCSA).

Families have the option of taking the survey on paper, if you prefer, and mail in the green envelope provided. Your child is bringing home the paper copy of the school survey today, February 10th.  Please note that only one family member of each child can complete the school survey.

El período de administración de la Encuesta de escuelas de la ciudad de Nueva York de 2025 se abre el lunes 10 de febrero de 2025 y se cerrará el viernes 4 de abril de 2025.

¿Cómo se utiliza la información de la encuesta escolar?


Los resultados de la encuesta fomentan el diálogo entre todos los miembros de las comunidades escolares sobre cómo hacer que su escuela sea un mejor lugar para aprender. Los líderes escolares utilizan los comentarios de la encuesta para reflexionar y mejorar las escuelas y los programas. Los resultados de la encuesta también se utilizan para ayudar a medir la calidad de la escuela.

Para revisar los resultados de 2024, visite la página de resultados de la encuesta. Para ver los resultados de toda la ciudad, haga clic en “NYC DOE: Citywide Results”. Para ver los resultados de una escuela específica, escriba el nombre de la escuela después de seleccionar el ícono “escuelas”.

¿Cómo puedo realizar la encuesta escolar?
