Good Evening AmPark Families, It has been a short but busy week here at AmPark, with another abridged school-week on the horizon. We are off from school on Wednesday, January 29th, in observance of Lunar New Year. Happy Year of the Snake to all! Next Tuesday, our 3rd-5th graders will be engaging in a simulation of the state ELA exam, taken on their student iPads. This simulation is designed to give our students an opportunity to familiarize, and re-familiarize, themselves with the computer based testing platform, and to ensure that all AmPark systems are set and ready to engage in the real thing in the months ahead. (For anyone who right now is thinking, "When are the tests this year?... The ELA test will be on April 29th and 30th and the Math test will be on may 7th and 8th.). Please know that AmPark will be in testing conditions on Tuesday morning and that 3rd-5th graders will take the simulation periods 2 and 3. Any and all students who have testing accommodations, will have them fully in place for this simulation as another layer of familiarization and support. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher, Bonnie or Elvira, with any questions or concerns you may have. On a separate and more fabulous note, AmPark will be showcased at the District 10 Arts Festival this coming Saturday at InTech Academy! A group of our 5th grade musicians will be performing with Josh at approximately 9:15am on the main stage. Also, two of our incredible Owl visual artists will have the portraits that they have been working on with our resident Lehman College Artist, Crystal Benitez, showcased in the visual arts gallery! Please go bask in the magic that is our Owls' music and artistic creativity and see the flyer below with more information. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead! Protected Areas: Spaces Safe from Immigration Enforcement
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a policy outlining what they're calling "Protected Areas," which are places where the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are generally prohibited from conducting immigration enforcement actions, except in certain circumstances. If you notice ICE or CBP activity in any of these locations, report them to [email protected] or your local rapid response network.
If you have questions, you can reach out to Project Open Arms directly at: [email protected].
