Owl Blog Post for April 25th

Good Evening AmPark Families,

It was so good to see our AmPark Owls back, refreshed from their Spring break this week!  We hope that you all are well, having had time with family and, as they say in the 7 Habits, time to Sharpen the Saw by resting and rejuvenating in all of the ways. 

Next week, our 3rd-5th grade students will be taking the NY State ELA test.  The format of the exams is computer based (CBT), so students will be taking these tests on their classroom iPads, which they have taken practice tests on in preparation for next week.  One of the most important things that we ask of you, our AmPark families, is to help your Owls get good nights of sleep and reiterate to them that we ALL know they are going to do us proud and that they already have with their hard work and preparation.  Should you have any questions or concerns about the tests, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher(s) asap to let us know so that we can support in every way you need.  Just so they are on your horizon as well, our State Mathematics test will be on May 7th and 8th, and then the 5th grade State Science test on May 15th. 

Next Thursday, our May Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on May 1st.  Please note that all conferences will be held virtually via Zoom.  Each grade level team will hold 2 sessions that begin with a 20 minute recap of the current year for current families and end with a 20 minute preview of the year ahead for incoming families (please note the sessions are the same, just offered at different times to accommodate families with siblings).

• Meeting with AmPark’s Specials Team, SEL Team, & Administration: 5:50PM - 6:25PM

You will receive a Bloomz message by Wednesday, April 30th, with all of the Zoom links at a glance so you can go to each session that you would like to attend.

Our AmPark May Events Calendar will be heading your way next week, but in the meantime, please mark your calendars for some wonderful events coming up this month, including our Family Sip & Paint Mother's Day Arts Nights on May 2nd and May 9th with our resident Lehman College Artist Crystal Benitez!  We welcome our PK-2nd grade families to join us on May 2nd from 4pm-5pm and our 3rd-5th grade families to join us on May 9th from 4pm-5pm in the Multi-Purpose Room.  (Please see the flyers below with more details!)

​On a similarly arts fabulous note, please mark your calendars for the biggest AmPark music event of the year because the AmPark Spring Concert featuring ALL students from EVERY grade level will be held on May 30th from 4:00pm-6:00pm on our very on tar beach in the PS/MS 95 Yard!  Josh and our team turn it out every year and this year promises to be no exception!  Can't wait to see you all there and singing along!
