For more than 10 years, The AmPark Neighborhood School, has proudly been part of the movement to create positive change for moms and babies everywhere, especially those most at risk. With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, we’re committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. You can help us by donating here & joining us to celebrate at the AmPark March of Dimes WonderWalk Costume Parade & Pumpkin Blaze on October 31st @ 8:45am! Our Owls will be marching around the block and we would love to have families cheer us on the parade route (Hillman to Sedgwick to Gouverneur to VCP South, and back again)! Together we are part of a movement to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy. Thank you for your support!
From WITS Chef Victoria:
October 2024 Dear AmPark, The signs of fall are all around us. We need only to tap into our senses for the signs: a jacket to guard against the morning chill (touch), sidewalks are full of leaves crunching under our feet (sound), bright orange pumpkins have appeared on stoops and in apartment windows (sight), cinnamon and nutmeg scent the air from fall coffees, teas and baked goods (smell) and, finally, the taste of delicious, crisp, freshly picked apples (taste)! Did you know our own state of New York grows more apple varieties than any other state? We have nearly 700 growers and 10,000,000+ trees! And the best apple is a fresh apple. In the fall, apples are at their peak freshness, whether at a local store or Green Market. In fact, apples are abound at GrowNYC’s (www.grownyc.com) Norwood Farmstand, at E. Gun Hill Rd and DeKalb Ave, every Thursday from 9:30-2:30. This green market features fresh food from local farmers and accepts cash, credit, SNAP/EBT, Healthfirst OTC Plus, WIC and Senior FMNP coupons. Get in a 1⁄2 mile walk and get some seasonal fruit and veg - exercise and healthy food all in one! As a tip on which apples might be best for you and your family, here is a guide to the most tart to most sweet. An apple a day really can help keep the doctor away!
