Happy New Year AmPark, This New Year brings exciting news for my family and I, as it seems we are about to welcome our newest little AmPark Owl a few days earlier than expected. My partner, Ryan, and I are over the moon excited to bring him into the world early Tuesday morning, January 4th. Given current hospital protocol, my COVID testing is tomorrow, and I must quarantine after it, ahead of the baby's birth on Tuesday. With that said, my leave will be effective on Monday, January 3rd, and with fingers and toes crossed that all goes well, we'll share pictures with you all soon : ) As you know, from our last Owl Blog post before the break, we have been given a great gift in the form of PS 91's Assistant Principal Meena Lildharrie, who will be stepping in as Interim Acting Principal, alongside our own AP Dany Velazquez to ensure the smooth and continued administrative leadership of AmPark. Please find the letter of introduction to Meena, from our Superintendent Maribel Hulla, here:  Both Kelly and I are beyond grateful to Superintendent Hulla for sending our AmPark family not only additional support and leadership at a time it is most needed, but also for having selected Meena, specifically, to join us. Kelly, Dany, and I got to speak with Meena just before the break. Our conversation left me feeling quite certain that Meena's deep dedication to maintaining trust through transparency, servant leadership, knowledge and experience with both DOE systems and having navigated her own community through this pandemic, as well as her hands on approach to supporting her community, will make her a beautiful and welcome fit for AmPark.
I am putting up my email away message today. I know that there are many communications that may be pressing regarding COVID and most have already looped AP Dany in at [email protected], as well as your child(ren)'s teachers. Please continue to do so, so that Dany is aware of any exposures or positive tests that may have arisen and impact your child's return. Please also begin to loop in Meena at [email protected] starting this week, as well as our Secretary, Sandra, at [email protected] and our Parent Coordinator, Elvira, [email protected] should your communication impact attendance or require follow up and support.
