Dear Families, As a collective staff we have very much appreciated the additional communication opportunities with families this past week from preliminary Department of Education Remote Learning Survey results, to fifth grade moving up meetings, to our parent engagement evening. In a time where quarantine and remote learning fatigue may be setting in for many, your continued efforts are a testament to your endurance. To further support families, we are putting together a series of workshops on a variety of requested topics. To begin the series and best meet your needs we will have a Family Resource Live Lunch where Social Worker Mike Molloy, Guidance Counselor Ana Veras, and Parent Coordinator Niomi Vasquez will co-host an event highlighting the topics they will be leading. From here, interested parents can sign up for further offerings. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 27th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Zoom. Please take this survey to indicate your interest in attending the initial event. The blurbs below provide an overview of the workshop topics to be covered. Mike Molloy: Coping Strategies for Families Over the last two months, I have had the opportunity to work with many families and listen to the varying concerns and emotions that have arisen during this strange time. I believe it could be useful to share out some of the issues that have been explored as well as touch on strategies to cope with various life stressors. I will dedicate the majority of session explaining SMART goals, a concrete technique used to identify and accomplish making changes in our lives. I hope you join me! Niomi Martinez: Resources for Families from Food Services to Webinars Hello AmPark family! So excited to share some valuable information regarding health, free opportunities, webinars and much more! Let me leave you with this quote, " Everyday may not be good, but there is something good in everyday." Can't wait to see you all in the info session! Ana Veras: Supporting the Transition to Middle School It is a great pleasure to be able to support you with transitioning to Middle School during this challenging time of crisis. We are hoping to tap into some of our AmPark alum to support our fifth graders in preparing for middle school. Many of our current students have older siblings that can help us to shine a light on this transition. We are in the preliminary stages of planning the structures for these supports, but if you have a AmPark alum that would be willing to help out, please email our Parent Coordinator, Niomi Vasquez at [email protected] Live Lunch Events: All Live links to be posted in Google Classrooms, please take a look!
