Dear AmPark Families, Thank you to our guest readers that ensured our Annual National African American Read-In could continue virtually this year: Beverley Santos, Valarie Hunsinger, Anna Goldman, Elora Ibarra, Shelley Monroe-Huang, Persia Stevens, and Chef Marion! It was wonderful to see so many AmPark Owls join us for No One Eats Alone Day as the kick-off to the NYCDOE’s Respect for All week! We will have monthly school-wide lunches moving forward. In-person Attendance: Space planning for in-person numbers continues throughout the year. The DOE is requiring school outreach to the family of all children who have no or low (less than 5 days) in-person attendance since December to determine learning preference status (remote or hybrid). Many of our families that have been in this circumstance have been keeping the school informed and this outreach is much appreciated. Reminders
Pre-K This year’s pre-K applications will open on Wednesday, February 24. NYC families with children born in 2018 will be able to apply to 3-K, and children born in 2017 can apply to pre-K. Vaccinations On Friday, Yankee Stadium will open as a vaccination site for Bronx Residents. If anyone is interested, please go to the website : https://www.somosvaccinations.com/. Learning Opportunity! Collaboration with Teachers to Support Early Literacy for PK - 2: Presentation by Tim Rasinski Session for D10 Families - February 10th 3:00 - 4:30. See flyer below: From Ina Hello AmPark Families - As you may have already heard through your email, we are very excited to bring the SQUARE 1 ART fundraiser to AmPark this spring!!! It will be 100% VIRTUAL this year! I am not doing grade wide lessons this year specifically for Square 1. Instead, you will have the option to: SELECT ANY ONE OF YOUR CHILDS ARTWORKS FROM THIS YEAR OR HAVE YOUR CHILD CREATE A NEW ORIGINAL ARTWORK TO SUBMIT. You could even create an artwork as a family to mark this most unusual year. I understand that these are stressful times so YOU ONLY HAVE TO SUBMIT ARTWORK IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ORDER KEEPSAKES. I hope you can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child's creativity AND support the AmPark Community. Best to all, Ina This spring break, (re)discover STEM with STEM Matters NYC! Kindergarten through grade 12 students can apply now to attend programs with STEM Matters NYC. K-8 students can apply for Discovery Day, a day-long hands-on learning experience, and enjoy a special interactive class with their adult caregiver.
