Some (more) Good News:
-Sending a huge shout out to our Career Day Committee for their work in organizing a truly informative, engaging, and memorable event for our 3rd - 5th grade students. Sharing space with students and volunteers that included parents, family of staff members, extended family, and representatives from partnerships was a refreshing reminder of the power of our community.

-Second graders had their culminating bird walk following their annual Audubon partnership

Parent Survey Reminder
June 3rd and June 8th are Chancellor’s Conference Days and Clerical Days for staff. As per the DOE, this is a non-attendance day for students and no in-person nor remote instruction will be provided.
Last week, Chancellor Meisha Porter launched a five-borough family engagement tour to hear directly from school communities about their top educational priorities for next school year. In light of unprecedented investments from local, state and federal, government, these forums will serve as an opportunity for families, teachers, school administrators and staff to provide Department of Education (DOE) leadership with their thoughts on the types of resources and support that are needed as we move towards a full reopening in September.
Manhattan – Monday, May 24, 2021, from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Queens – Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Brooklyn -- Monday, June 7, 2021, from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Bronx -- Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Chancellor Porter will be joined by Executive Superintendents and leadership from the DOE to help answer questions and to facilitate a productive conversation with the community. Families and staff can register for the forums online at learndoe.org/chancellor. At the time of registration, participants will be asked if they want to ask a question or provide a comment during the event about a number of categories, including health and safety, special education, fall 2021 school reopening, social emotional learning, and more.
Each forum will be recorded and posted learndoe.org/chancellor so that school communities may access them at any time. Interpretation services will be available at every forum. Please share this information and the linked flyers with your community. Translated versions for Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx coming soon.

Hello AmPark Families! The NED Mindset Mission Show was awesome this week. The students were so engaged, and they loved the Yo Yo tricks our presenter displayed while telling the story about what NED means. They learn about the "not yet Yetii", how to encourage others, and to always do their best! Our school received this program at no-cost because another school community has paid-it-forward to us. Now it’s our turn—you can help by purchasing a NED-messaged yo-yo and accessories. A yo-yo is both a mindset tool and tangible reminder of NED’s message.
*Remote families can purchase NED gear by coming in from 10:30am to 2:30pm at the main entrance until Friday May 28th.
*Hybrid families can send money with their child, and we will give students the opportunity to come down until Friday May 28th.
Our next parent raffle will be a hard copy of an author called Brene Brown and her book
Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and LeadIn this book she creates her own parent manifesto, and it is beautiful! Her interview with Oprah is linked below! Warning Tearjerker Alert!
I hope you see you all at our next Brain Power Workshop Friday, May 21st: 5:00PM - 6:00PM
